Milk & More goes back to school in Pure-Pak® cartons
Over 25 million school milk cartons will be delivered by the UK’s largest doorstep milk delivery service Milk & More this new academic year. The fresh semi-skimmed milk is packaged in fun and engaging 250ml Pure-Pak® Classic cartons, each complete with a straw hole.
Deliveries begin in September at the start of the new school term, and only months after Milk & More launched its first fresh milk products in Pure-Pak® cartons, bringing more choice to its doorstep customers. Milk & More customers can order Standard and Organic fresh milk, across Whole, Semi-Skimmed and Skimmed varieties in one-pint and one-litre Pure-Pak® Classic cartons.
Milk & More is the UK’s oldest and largest doorstep milk delivery service, and brings fresh British milk, juice, bread, eggs, and other daily essentials direct to customers’ homes via a free and convenient delivery service. The decision to add cartons to the range represents Milk & More’s desire to present customers with a wider range of options to reduce their household’s impact.
Protecting nutrients for kids
For its daily deliveries of school milk, Milk & More has opted for the optimum packaging choice for fresh milk. The Pure-Pak® cartons not only feature an eye-catching and interactive design, they also effectively preserve the light-sensitive nutrients present in milk for longer, outperforming traditional plastic bottles like HDPE and clear PET. A study conducted by Campden BRI on behalf of Elopak (March 2020) confirms that Pure-Pak® cartons excel in retaining vitamins A and B2 in milk for an extended duration, thus keeping milk fresher from production to consumption.
Jessica Nijjar, Chief Customer Officer at Milk & More“We’re committed to offering all our customers a range of sustainable packaging options. This is especially important for school milk, where nutrition is essential. That’s why we’ve opted for the Pure-Pak® Classic cartons, which better retain nutrients and freshness, allowing our fresh British milk to be enjoyed by school kids across the country.”
“With Elopak’s support, we’ve switched to the new cartons and created the engaging on-pack design, ready to be distributed to schools from September. We’ve learned from Elopak’s research and proven expertise that cartons represent a genuinely viable alternative, a sustainable packaging option which is recyclable in the UK.”
The Pure-Pak® carton contains fibres of very high quality that can be recycled up to seven times. After collection and sorting, the cartons can be sent to a dedicated carton recycling mill based in the UK. There, a simple process of water and agitation separates the paper fraction from the polymer lining. Both materials are recovered, with the resulting recycled materials from the paper used to make new products, such as cores and tubes.
